    The School of Business at Portland State University seeks exceptional candidates for a tenure track Assistant or Advanced Assistant position in Business, Technology & Analytics (BTA) or a related area (e.g., information systems, data analytics). The term of appointment is a nine-month academic year, beginning on 16 September 2023. The ideal candidate should have (1) an earned doctorate with an emphasis in IS or BTA related field from a nationally-accredited institution (advanced ABD candidates will be considered but must have their doctorate awarded by 30 days before employment start date); (2) current evidence of a strong and innovative program of research and publication record in relevant areas, and commensurate with career stage; (3) demonstration of recent teaching excellence in the areas of IS, big data and business analytics, ethics, privacy and cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, database management, machine learning or related topics and (4) a strong and continuing commitment to both research and teaching. Candidates must also have an interest in teaching in both traditional classroom as well as online modes, and at both graduate and undergraduate levels.

    The School has a new Business Technology & Analytics undergraduate concentration that is attracting a growing number of students, currently at over 300 (Fall, 2022). The concentration uniquely blends business and analytics education. The current position is one of a number of hires in this area. The position entails teaching primarily in the Business Technology & Analytics concentration, conducting high quality academic research, and making rank-appropriate service contributions. Candidates whose teaching and research complements, or augments, that of our faculty, or that aligns with the strategic mission of the School, are viewed as a plus. In addition, the School seeks candidates whose research, teaching, service or life experience has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.

    The School is an AACSB-accredited institution, has a commitment to both research and teaching, and was recently ranked by the Princeton Review as "one of the best universities to major in business." The school serves over 3,600 students, and grants more graduate degrees than any other university in Oregon. The school's active involvement with the region's strong and growing entrepreneurial enterprises in areas such as the thriving high-tech community, the national food industry, the athletic and outdoor industry, real estate, service, and manufacturing industries provides numerous research opportunities for faculty.
