    Dear colleagues,

    We are excited to announce our new track on decolonization in the 57th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS-57).

    Minitrack: Decolonizing Technology and Society
    Track: Information Technology, Social Justice, and Marginalized Contexts

    HICSS-57: January 3-6, 2024| Waikiki, Hawaii

    We invite scholars to consider this minitrack to be a platform to discuss decoloniality. Fundamental questions of interest are: What does it mean to decolonize information systems? How can we challenge present colonial legacies in a digital society and imagine decolonial futures? How can we theorize and develop decolonized technologies using decolonial approaches at the local and global levels? Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
    • Decoloniality, critical race issues and technology
    • Decolonizing gender and sex through technology
    • Decolonizing the curriculum and higher education using technology
    • Decolonial approaches to technology design
    • Data colonialism and new forms of coloniality using digital technologies
    • Data justice and digital activism in decolonial contexts
    • Application of decolonial methods and theories (e.g., Kaupapa Māori)
    • Application of decolonial philosophies (e.g., Ubuntu)

    - June 15, 2023, 11:59 pm (HST): Manuscript submission deadline
    - August 17, 2023, 11:59 pm (HST): Notification of acceptance/rejection
    - September 22, 2023, 11:59 pm (HST): Submission of final manuscript for proceeding publication
    - October 1, 2023, 11:59 pm (HST): Registration deadline (at least one author must register)
    - January 3-6, 2024: HICSS-57 conference dates
