Jie Ren, Qin Weng, and I are organizing a mini-track titled "The Bright and Dark Side of Social Media in Marginalized Contexts" in the special track of "Information Technology, Social Justice, and Marginalized Contexts" in HICSS 2024, hicss.hawaii.edu/tracks-57/.... Research concerning both the "bright side" and "dark side" of social media for equity and inclusion is needed to help information systems research be an agent for empowerment and social change. In this space, there are many important, yet unanswered, research questions. This mini-track invites papers on all types of social media platforms investigating the positive and negative aspects of social media in marginalized contexts. We welcome empirical, theoretical, or position papers. For details please see the following call for papers (Mini-Track Call for Papers) or email me (tmattson@richmond.edu). We hope to see you in January at HICSS.
