Would you like to know what issues MISQ editors are considering when they handle manuscripts that use analytical modelling? If so, come along to our knowledge-sharing seminar and learn from our editors, Xinxin Li, Sumit Sarkar, Srinivasan Raghunathan, and Zhiling Guo.
This seminar follows on from our successful knowledge-sharing sessions in 2022 (on machine learning research, computationally-intensive theory construction, causality, and qualitative research). We will continue covering other genres/issues in future sessions.
In this session, the editors will:
- Introduce analytical modeling research in IS to those who are not familiar with the methodology
- Discuss the importance of analytical modeling as a method and how it contributes to IS research.
- Discuss how to evaluate contribution and cultivate a productive review process for analytical modeling work
- Discuss what problems are suited for analytical modeling and how it can be combined with other methods
With the proliferation of new data sources, MISQ has received an influx of empirical and data-science papers in recent years. While we enthusiastically welcome such papers, important questions remain that are difficult to address with data, and are instead more suited to analytical modelling. Given the importance of this genre in our field, we want authors to know how they can submit such research to MISQ and what our editors look for when handling them.
Moderated by Professor Andrew Burton-Jones, Editor-in-Chief of MIS Quarterly, come along, listen to our editors, and take the opportunity to ask questions.
