As digital technologies reshape communication, collaboration, and organizational life across the world, Africa stands out as one of the most dynamic and innovative management laboratories of our time. The Africa Academy of Management (AFAM) brings together scholars who believe that Africa is not only a context of study - it is a source of new theory, digital innovation, and organizational insight.

    For CTO scholars, Africa offers:

    • Rich empirical settings for studying digital adoption, communication networks, and socioโ€‘technical change.
    • Novel organizational forms emerging from mobile-first economies, platform ecosystems, and digitally enabled public services.
    • Opportunities for comparative, crossโ€‘cultural, and practiceโ€‘oriented research on communication, information systems, and organizational transformation.
    • A vibrant scholarly community connecting Africa-based researchers with global colleagues working on technology, communication, and organizational design.

AFAM's mission is to advance rigorous and relevant management scholarship rooted in African realities while building global connections and empowering the next generation of researchers.

If you are passionate about understanding how communication and technology shape organizations - and how organizations shape society - AFAM is a natural intellectual home.

๐ŸŒ What might Afrotopia look like in times of technological transformation?

This is the central question explored in an upcoming Special Issue of the Africa Journal of Management (AJOM), the official journal of the Africa Academy of Management:

Finding Afrotopia in Times of Technological Transformation โ€“

    Toward Pluriversal African Future-Making

Inspired by Felwine Sarr's vision of Afrotopia, the Special Issue invites scholars to explore how organizations, governments, entrepreneurs, communities, and citizens across Africa are shaping futures amid rapid technological change:

o   How can technological transformation support alternative African modernities that genuinely serve the continent's people?

o   How might African philosophies, traditions, and organizing practices inspire pluriversal approaches to future-making?

o   What opportunities and risks do AI, platform economies, digital ecosystems, and geopolitical transformations create for African futures?

We welcome conceptual and empirical contributions addressing these and related questions, as outlined in the attached call.ยต

๐Ÿ“… Curious to learn more about this Special Issue?
