To foster a thriving community of scholars investigating digital businesses through the lens of classic strategic management questions, we have organized a series of popular PDWs at recent AOM conferences. Each workshop has consistently attracted over 200 engaged participants, underscoring sustained interest in how digital transformation and AI-enabled business models intersect with fundamental strategy concerns. Our past PDWs covered diverse themes, from corporate strategy (2020) and organizational governance (2021) to resources and capabilities (2022), fundamental issues in strategy (2023), value-based strategy (2024), and dynamic interactions in digital-age strategy (2025). As we embark on our seventh installment in 2026, we focus on the theme: "Competitive Advantage, Value Capture, and Monetization Strategy for Digital and AI-Enabled Firms." This theme addresses a broad spectrum of digital and AI phenomena, ranging from platforms and ecosystems to data- and model-driven products, and centers on the mechanisms through which firms create defensible advantage, appropriate value, and design monetization strategies in markets characterized by network effects, rapid learning, and low marginal costs. Our objective is to examine whether, and how, these digital- and AI-era conditions reshape classic constructs of competitive advantage, bargaining power, and value appropriation, and to catalyze new research agendas on pricing, contracting, platform governance, and strategic interaction in digital markets.
