    Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to invite contributions to the 1st Impact-Oriented Information Systems Workshop, an ECIS 2026 Ancillary Meeting, to be held on 14 June 2026, 14:00–17:30, in Milan, Italy.

The workshop, titled "Visions of Meaning for Impact-Oriented Information Systems Research in Times of Polycrisis: Quo Vadis?", invites reflective and well-argued short contributions that engage with the meaning of "impact" in Information Systems research, particularly in the context of polycrisis and the growing influence of Generative AI.

We welcome contributions of up to 6 pages in PDF format, following the ECIS template. Submissions should sit deliberately between a position statement and a piece of empirical or conceptual research. They may draw on any research approach, including design science research, action research, engaged scholarship, policy-oriented research, or critical IS research.

    Key dates:

    • Initial submission window: open now until 15 May 2026

    • Feedback on submissions: on a rolling basis until 22 May 2026

    • Deadline for final submissions: 29 May 2026

Submissions are managed through the Zenodo community for the workshop:
    https://zenodo.org/communities/iis-workshop/

A PDF version of the full call is also available at the same link.

The workshop will feature a distinguished panel with Amber Young, Carla Bonina, Markus Zimmer, and Andreas Nilsson. Selected contributions will receive a DOI and be made publicly available as part of the workshop proceedings.

The call is open to IS researchers at all career stages, researchers from adjacent disciplines, and reflective practitioners engaged with IIS research.
