  • 1.  EGOS Subtheme Future-making and Imaginaries: call for short papers

    Posted 20 days ago

Submission to EGOS 2026 is now open, and we're excited to invite papers for our sub-theme "Imagining What's Next: Post-Human Technologies and the Futures We Create"

Our sub-theme seeks to bridge two streams of research – future-making and organizing with post-human technologies – to explore how our futures are actively imagined, contested, and enacted in organizational settings and beyond. We are particularly interested in the performative role of imagination and social imaginaries in shaping our present.

We welcome both conceptual and empricial subsmissions that engage with the critical intersection between imagination, future-making and post-human technologies.

Key questions may address (but not limited to):

    • Imagining and performing the futures
How do actors imagine, communicate and make present possible futures, particularly in a world mediated by post-human technologies? What practices, narratives, and discursive tactics enable certain futures to be communicatively performed?
    • Future-making with technologies
How do AI and post-human technologies enable or reshape the process of imagining the future? How are traditional "future-making" practices (e.g., scenario planning) evolving in response to the rise of these technologies?
    • Critical exploration of post-human futures
What ideologies or various narratives (e.g., utopian and dystopian) are driving the race to build artificial general intelligence, and what are the performative effects of these dominant visions on organizations, governance, and more broadly economis?
    • Humanness in a post-human future
In what ways can post-human technologies – and how they are imagined and enacted – help us understand humanness?

Full call for the paper can be found here https://www.egos.org/jart/prj3/egos/main.jart?rel=de&reserve-mode=active&content-id=1756645686117&subtheme_id=1733841803077

Submission deadline is on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, 12:00 CET.

We look forward to your contributions!
