We are pleased to invite submission for a proposal for a special issue of Innovation: Organization & Management (IOM), a journal that publishes outstanding research on innovation within and across organizations. IOM addresses scholars in management, strategy, innovation, entrepreneurship, organizational theory, and organizational behavior, and welcomes manuscripts grounded in diverse disciplinary, theoretical and methodological traditions. IOM publishes both empirical and theoretical contributions that are highly relevant and methodologically robust. The Editors-in-Chief particularly encourage manuscripts that break new ground theoretically – even if they are methodologically risky – or use non-mainstream and innovative approaches.
The implied meaning of innovation is broad, ranging from technological innovation to organizational innovation to business and social innovation, both in the context of business organizations and not-for-profit organizations. IOM covers innovation processes, structures, outcomes, antecedents, discourses, and behaviors in both large and small organizations, including entrepreneurial organizations. The level of analysis considered ranges from individual innovative behavior, innovation within teams, groups and networks, organization-level innovation to innovation within and across organizational networks, ecosystems, and fields. We are particularly interested in proposals that address emerging technologies, digital technology application in novel domains (such as agriculture), as well as sustainability and ethical challenges.
A special issue proposal should contain the following elements:
- A title that reflects the theme and scope of the special issue
- Brief biographies of each of the proposed special issue editors
- A brief introduction that motivates the relevance and importance of the theme for IOM
- A summary of the key research questions and gaps that the special issue aims to address
- A description of the expected contributions and outcomes of the special issue
- A list of any potential authors for the special issue papers
- A tentative timeline for the submission, review, and publication process
The proposal should be no longer than 5 pages (excluding references) and should be submitted electronically to editor@iom-journal.org by 1st October 2023. Both Editors-in-Chief will evaluate the proposals and select the most promising ones for further development.
We look forward to receiving your proposals and thank you for your interest in IOM!
Sincerely,
Nelson Phillips and Llewellyn D.W. Thomas
