The University of Georgia, Terry College of Business
Assistant Professor, Department of Management Information System
The Department of Management Information Systems (MIS) in the Terry College of Business at The University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor specializing in electric mobility, beginning in August 2024.
We seek a candidate with required expertise in electric mobility, transport information systems, IT infrastructure, or data analytics for connected vehicles. This position is part of a university-wide presidential cluster hiring initiative to create 10 positions to develop UGA's research program on electric mobility (news.uga.edu/electric-mobility-initiative-taps-into-evolving-tech-field). Recent manufacturing investments in Georgia by leading electric mobility firms include SK Battery, Hyundai, and Rivian. As of April 2023, Georgia attracted 35 EV-related projects with a total investment of $23 billion. This has created many opportunities to establish a global hub in electric mobility at UGA. The transition to EVs is accompanied by the emergence of connected vehicles and a wealth of data about a vehicle's state, road conditions, highway demand, EV travel patterns, and EV charging requirements. These data provide opportunities to improve vehicle performance, identify road maintenance problems, reduce highway congestion, optimize the timing, placement, and maintenance of EV charging hubs.
Qualified applicants must hold a Ph.D. in information systems or a closely related discipline from an AACSB accredited institution or international equivalent. They must also have a demonstrated potential to establish a successful record in top-tier information systems journals. Evidence of potential for excellence in teaching is also desirable.
