    * Call for Applications, MISQ Scholarly Development Academy, 2023

We enthusiastically call for applications for our second MIS Quarterly Scholarly Development Academy, to be held in 2023.

As outlined in our September 2021 Editor's Comments (https://misq.umn.edu/misq/downloads/download/editorial/737/), we were motivated by the inequities in science magnified by COVID-19 to offer a Scholarly Development Academy to support under-served scholars in our field.

The first cohort of the Scholarly Development Academy focused on post-PhD, untenured female academics.  The feedback has been resoundingly positive, and we look forward to seeing their continued success in the future.

The second cohort will focus on scholars who are between 1-7 years post PhD graduation and who either work in the Global South or are members of indigenous and underserved ethnic or racial groups in high-income countries.

For details, including how to apply and who will serve as mentors, please see: https://misq.umn.edu/scholarly-development

    The dates are as follows:

    • Dec 4, 2022: Applications are due
    • Mid Jan, 2023: Selected applicants will be informed
    • Mid Feb, 2023: First session - Plenary and get to know each other; story-telling and cohort-building
    • Late March 2023: Second session - Paper development workshop; mentors comment on short summaries of papers
    • Early Oct 2023: Third and final session - Career development workshop; mentors share career advice with mentees

The exact dates of the three sessions will be finalized by Dec 20 – please check website for updates.

The Academy meetings will be held online, via Zoom, with an in-person reception at ICIS 2023.  Sessions will be offered at two times during the day (with roughly half the mentors and mentees in each one) to support time-zone differences.

We hope this initiative will be a great help to the field.

If you are interested, please sign up!  For details, see: https://misq.umn.edu/scholarly-development  And please spread the news to anyone you think would be eligible and interested.

(Please note that some of the due dates still need to be fixed up on the website, but the above dates are correct – in particular – applications due Dec 4.)
