Applications due Sept 23 for MISQ Virtual Reviewer Development Workshop
MIS Quarterly (MISQ) will hold its annual Reviewer Development workshop in November 2023. The objective of the workshop is to coach participants who have reviewed, or are interested in reviewing, for MISQ on how to develop a virtuous review. The workshop is designed to provide participants in the workshop with: (i) feedback from MISQ Senior Editors and Associate Editors on a review that the participants develop for the workshop, as well as; (ii) the opportunity to discuss with editors and other participants on how to develop a virtuous review.
The workshop will be offered in an online-only mode. There will be two time slots to accommodate time differences. Calendar invitations with Zoom links will be sent to participants a week before the workshop.
- Saturday [November 25th, 2023] 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM (Central European Time) / 3:00 PM - 7:00PM (China Standard Time) (this session is likely to work for AIS Regions 2 and 3 - Europe and Asia)
- Tuesday [November 28th, 2023] 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM (US East Coast Time) / 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM (US West Coast Time) (this session is likely to work for AIS Regions 1 - America)
Each of the workshop time slots has a limited capacity of 50 participants. The workshop will include:
- Roundtable discussions among participants and MISQ editors to provide feedback on reviews submitted by participants.
- Roundtable discussions among participants and MISQ editors of the 'actual' review packets for the paper through rounds of the MISQ review process.
- Editors' panel discussion on characteristics of virtuous reviewing, structuring reviews, and reviewing revisions.

- November 25, 2023 Workshop session 1 (more suitable for AIS Region 2/3 – Europe, Africa, Asia)
- November 28, 2023 Workshop session 2 (more suitable for AIS Region 1 - Americas)
Workshop Objectives and Design
Participants will be assigned (based on their stated interests and expertise) to review the initial version of a paper submitted to MISQ whose review process has concluded. Participants will be expected to submit their review prior to the workshop.
Please note that you should only nominate for the workshop if you are willing and able to dedicate the time required to produce a detailed review of the manuscript before the workshop.
