The Department of Communication in the College of Media, Communication, and Information (CMCI) seeks applications for a tenure-track position (open-rank) to begin in Fall 2025. In an era of rapid social and organizational changes, we seek a colleague who communicatively examines organizing practices related to technology, datafication (AI, algorithms), or digital organizing with secondary interests including but not limited to the following areas:
- power/control
- culture
- race, class, and gender
- alternative organizing
- organizing in the global South
- decolonizing organizational communication
The successful candidate must be both well-grounded in organizational communication and in interpretive and/or critical perspectives. We are also looking for a colleague who is interested in contributing to the leadership of the department.

The Organizational Communication group is housed in the Department of Communication, a vibrant intellectual community committed to the critical, humanistic, and social scientific study of communication and offering BA, MA, and PhD degrees. It is one of three inter-collaborating areas: Rhetoric & Culture, Community & Social Interaction, and Organizational Communication. As an area, Organizational Communication has long been recognized as one of the top units-if not the top-in this area in the interdisciplinary Communication field, due to the quality of its faculty and the training of its students. Faculty members are among the national and international leaders in their fields.

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $155,000 annually.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Communication. The degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
- An established or emerging record of scholarly publication
- An established or emerging record of high-quality college teaching
- A commitment to departmental, university, and professional service
- Experience teaching at the graduate level and mentoring/advising graduate students
- Success in obtaining external funding to support research and/or teaching
- For candidates hired with tenure, interest in and experience with departmental or campus leadership
