Pregister for AOM PDW From Individuals to Communities: Integrating Interdisciplinary Approaches to AI-Human Collaboration by June 30, 2025

Time: Sunday July 27th, 2025 between 2:00-4:00 PM

Location: Bella Center, Hall C- C3-m7 - Ground Floor

Abstract: Many prominent examples exist of organizations implementing AI-based tools to perform specific tasks, while failing to anticipate how these technologies may reshape human behavior and social dynamics. Although there is growing recognition of the value of interdisciplinary research in studying this emerging phenomenon, traditional academic structures often create barriers to such collaborative work. Despite several professional organizations and conferences focusing on research at the nexus of technology and human psychology (e.g., CHI, CSCW), limited efforts have addressed problems unique to organizations. This PDW aims to fill this gap and leverage the existing networks within the CTO division to stimulate dialogue among scholars from Communication, Information Systems (IS), Social Psychology, and Organizational Behavior (OB). Our goal is to identify questions of mutual interest among these scholars and reduce the hurdles to collaboration.  Since each discipline brings unique assumptions, theoretical orientations, and methods to study the issues related to AI in organizations, we seek to initiate boundary-spanning dialogue that can spark new collaboration.
