VU's Department of Organization Science in Amsterdam is looking for two full professors interested in researching and teaching at the intersection of organizations, networked societies and technology.
A snippet of the position 'Organizing in a Network Society Chair in the Department of Organization Sciences: a structural position' from the report is:
We are living in an interconnected society. Grand challenges, such as climate change, an aging population and social inequalities, urge society to collaborate across social, cultural and organizational boundaries to mobilize collective and connective action. The growth of global markets, media and networks, the flow of social, cultural and economic capital, and the rise of digital technologies, such as the recent surge in Artificial Intelligence, are an important force that enables us to connect, evaluate, share knowledge and organize. Yet, the interconnected society also disconnects and excludes us. Conflicts emerge that challenge incumbent structures of stability, trust and authority, driving groups together and apart, and resulting in a flux of organization and disorganization. For instance, while we are increasingly interconnected, we are also facing an epistemic crisis as we struggle to agree on the validity of knowledge.
