    CTO Division 2025 Doctoral Consortium at AOM Copenhagen

    The Communication, Digital Technology, and Organization (CTO) Division of the Academy of Management is pleased to announce the 2025 Doctoral Consortium (DC) on Friday, July 25th, 2025, at the 85th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management in Copenhagen, Denmark.

    The CTO Doctoral Consortium is an exciting opportunity for doctoral students to network, receive feedback on their research, and discuss career issues with experienced faculty advisors with a diverse range of research approaches-including behavioral, social, technical, and economic-to topics at the intersection of communication, digital technology, and organizing. The consortium will address topics such as finishing your dissertation, creating a research program, publishing in top journals, and navigating the academic job market. Application, acceptance, and pre-registration are required to attend.

    How to apply

    Acceptance is based on a review of the application materials. To apply, send the following application materials as attachments in a single email to Steven L. Johnson via email at steven@virginia.eduwith the email subject line: "DC CTO AOM 2025 application":

    (1) A 3-page, single-spaced, 12-point font extended abstract of your proposed dissertation research.

    (2) A letter of recommendation from your dissertation chair or advisor supporting your participation in the CTO Doctoral Consortium.

    (3) A 1-page informational document with:

    • Name of applicant
    • PhD program university/school affiliation
    • Dissertation title
    • Expected completion date
    • Educational background
    • Professional background/prior work experience
    • Future career aspirations
    • Please indicate whether you have attended the DC before.

    Additional Information:

    - Priority consideration will be given for applications received by Thursday, May 1, 2025. Applications received after that date will only be considered if there is space remaining.

    - The Doctoral Consortium will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 10 am to 4 pm at the Copenhagen Business School. Participants are expected to attend the full session.

    - Participants and mentors are also invited to a social event on Friday evening.

    - Participants are invited to display a dissertation research poster at the CTO Poster Reception on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 6:00 pm. Mentors are CTO members are also invited to attend this reception.

    - Priority for attendance will be given to students who will have defended their dissertation proposals but not their dissertations by the date of the consortium, those who have not previously participated in the CTO DC, and those whose institutions or fields would not otherwise be represented.
