Division chair:
The CTO (former OCIS) Division Chair is the head of the CTO Executive Commitee who serves for a one year term and cannot serve two consecutive terms (but may be re-elected for a later term). The Division Chair is responsible for the conduct of the Division’s activities in a manner that will assure the accomplishment of the Division’s purposes, subject to the provisions of the Division Constitution and the Academy of Management Bylaws.
This involves:
- Administering the affairs of the Division under the coordination of the President-Elect of the Academy of Management and its Professional Division Policy Committee
- Appointing a Chief Technology Officer, a Chief Information Officer, a Secretary and other officers and committee members as specified in the CTO constitution or deemed necessary by the CTO Executive Committee
- Working with the Chair-Elect to coordinate Division committees
- Leading meetings (face-to-face and teleconference) meetings of the Executive Committee and the Annual CTO Business Meeting
- Presenting a report on the status and progress of the Division at its annual business meeting
- Working with the Secretary to prepare the Five Year Report for the Academy
Division chair-elect:
The CTO Division Chair-Elect is a elected member of the CTO Executive Council who is serves for a one year term. The Division Chair-Elect is responsible working with the Division Chair to conduct of the Division’s activities in a manner that will assure the accomplishment of the Division’s purposes, subject to the provisions of the Division Constitution and the Academy of Management Bylaws.
This involves:
- Assisting the Division Chair in the coordination and oversight of division activities
- Organizing the CTO Junior Faculty Consortium
- Succeeding the Chair at the end of the Chair’s year in office
- Serving as the Division Chair in the absence of the Chair
- Overseeing the Best Published Paper Award
Program chair:
The CTO Program Chair is a elected member of the CTO Executive Committee who is serves for a one year term. The Program Chair also becomes the candidate for the Division Chair-Elect position at the end of her/his term as Program Chair. The Program Chair is responsible for planning and supervising the CTO Division’s program at the Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management.
This involves:
- Overseeing the reviewing and selection of paper for the CTO program at the Annual Meeting
- Working the Academy support staff to implement the CTO session
- Overseeing selection of the Best Paper, Best Student Paper, and Best Reviewer award winners
Program chair-elect:
The CTO Program Chair-Elect is an elected member of the CTO Executive Committee who is serves for a one year term. The Program Chair-Elect is responsible for responsible for planning and supervising the OCIS Division’s pre-conference program at the Annual Meeting, of the Academy of Management. The Program Chair-Elect also assists the Program Chair in the planning of the CTO Division’s program at the Annual Meeting.
This involves:
- Planning and supervising the CTO Doctoral Consortium
- Overseeing the selection, planning, and implementation of the CTO pre-conference events
Past division chair:
The CTO Past Division Chair is an elected member of the CTO Executive Commitee who serves for a one year term. The Past Division Chair is responsible for the overseeing the election of CTO Executive Commitee members.
This involves:
- Leading the CTO nominating commitee
- Working with the Academy support staff to publicize and execute the CTO elections
- Coordinating activities related to International member activities (e.g., Intl Paper Development Workshop, Intl PDW, and organizing meetings of international reps)
Treasurer:
The CTO Treasurer is a member of the CTO Executive Committee who is appointed by the Division Chair for a three-year term. The Treasurer is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of CTO in accordance with the principles and policies of the Academy of Management.
This involves:
- Attending all Executive Committee meetings (face-to-face and teleconference) and briefing the committee on the CTO Division’s financial activities
- Keeping a running estimate of funds coming into the division and expenses going out using an Excel spreadsheet
- Downloading the records of financial transactions from the Academy website and work with the officials there to reconcile them with your records of these expenses
- Working with donors and the central office to process any donations
- Requesting award checks from the Academy, and a check to pay for award plaques
- At the conference, attending the Treasurer’s meeting and the Executive Committee meeting on Sunday; giving a brief report at the Business meeting
- Providing the Incoming Program Chair with an estimate of the amount of money available to spend on food and beverages at the conference
Chief information officer:
The CTO Chief Information Officer is a member of the CTO Executive Committee who is appointed by the Division Chair for a three-year term. The Chief Information Officer is responsible for working with the Chief Technology Officer to lead the CTO Communications committee and provide an infrastructure for supporting communication within CTO and archiving of necessary governance and working documents.
This involves:
- Attending all Executive Committee meetings (face-to-face and teleconference) and briefing the committee on any communication issues within the Division Working with the Chief Technology Officer to deploy infrastructure improvements to better support the CTO community
- Overseeing the content of the CTO website to ensure its accuracy and timliness
- Working with the Executive Committee member to ensure that communication with the CTO membership and archiving of necessary documents is done in a timely fashion
- Managing existing content resources (e.g. CFP and job positings) and developing new content content areas that are of value to the CTO membership
Representative-at-large:
The CTO Representatives-at-Large are elected member of the CTO Executive Commitee who serve for a three year term. The Representatives-at-Large are responsible for representing the interests of the member of CTO within the CTO Executive Committee.
This involves:
- Attending all Executive Committee meetings (face-to-face and teleconference) and briefing the committee on any issues relevant to the members of CTO
- Working with other Executive Committee members on initiatives that are designed to meet the need of members of CTO
Representative-at-large (international):
The CTO Representative-at-Large (International) is an elected member of the CTO Executive Commitee who serves for a three year term. The Representative-at-Large (International) is responsible for representing the interests of the international (i.e. non-US) community within the CTO Executive Committee.
This involves:
- Attending all Executive Committee meetings (face-to-face and teleconference) and briefing the committee on any issues particularly relevant to the International members of CTO
- Working with other Executive Committee members on initiatives that are designed to meet the needs of International members of CTO
Representative-at-large (student):
The CTO Student Representative-at-Large is an elected member of the CTO Executive Commitee who serves for a two year term. The Division Chair is responsible for representing the interests of the student community within the CTO Executive Committee. These include the meeting during the annual conference and other periodic telephone meetings. The time commitment is about 2-4+ hours per month, dependent upon level of involvement with student website. Preferably, student representatives should be at an early-to-mid level of their studies (e.g., 2nd year).
This involves:
- Attending all Executive Committee meetings (face-to-face and teleconference) and briefing the committee on any student related issues within CTO
- Working with other Executive Committee members on initiatives that are designed to meet the needs of student members of CTO
- Engaging other doctoral students in CTO and AOM activities. These include, among others, CTO paper submissions, CTO presentations, PDWs, and AOM social events
- Contributing to the CTO website with information on student-related activities
- Collaborating with students local to the AOM venue to provide navigation information for AOM meeting
- Participating in the Student Website Committee, initiate ideas, contributions for greater student interaction on the website
- Participating in executive committee initiatives on an ad-hoc basis
Representative-at-large (practitioner):
The CTO Representative-at-Large (Practitioner) is a member of the CTO Executive Commitee who is apppointed by the OCIS Division Chair and serves for a three year term. The Representative-at-Large (Practitioner) is responsible for representing the interests of the practioner community within the CTO Executive Committee.
This involves:
- Attending all Executive Committee meetings (face-to-face and teleconference) and briefing the committee on any issues particularly relevant to the practioner members of CTO
- Working with other Executive Committee members on initiatives that are designed to meet the needs of practitioner members of CTO
