Ever wondered what the ongoing research is on how the data revolution is reshaping innovation? To what extent will artificial intelligence and large language models lead us to breakthrough innovations? Whether data-driven tools are a solution to find (ostensibly harder to find) ideas, or is it just hype?

To explore these and many other questions, we invite you to join us for a paper development workshop focusing on the implications of the data revolution for innovation and strategy. The session will take place in person on August 5^th 2023, from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM (EST) at the Boston Hynes Convention Center (Room 204). The session is co-sponsored by the Strategic Management (STR) and Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) divisions of the Academy.

This PDW will follow a three-part format.

In the first part, Abhishek Nagaraj will open the meeting by outlining the increasing role that data play in innovation, strategy, and organizational decision-making. Then, early-career scholars will share frontier research on these topics: Lynn Wu (Wharton), Matteo Tranchero (Berkeley-Haas), Hyo Kang (USC-Marshall), and Ryan Allen (UW). Shane Greenstein (HBS) and Hong Luo (HBS) will discuss their presentations. 

The second part will consist of a panel discussion with industry leaders who are redefining how firms innovate in the age of big data in their respective domains, including Jacob Oppenheim (Entrepreneur in Residence at Digitalis Ventures) and Sebastien Lefebvre (VP of Data and ML, Inari). 

The third part will include roundtable discussions (breakout room-style) focused on different topics and research questions stemming from the academic presentations and industry panel discussion.
