    The Brian Lamb School of Communication is searching for a scholar in Organizational Communication to be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor.

    Principal Duties:

    Candidates will pursue an active empirical research program and engage in multidisciplinary external funding opportunities (federal, foundation, and/or corporate). The candidate will teach courses in technology, media, and/or organizational communication, and explore innovative content in research and in the classroom.

    Qualifications:

    We seek a colleague who can complement our strengths in organizational communication. The ideal candidate will have expertise in artificial intelligence and/or human-machine communication including research on communication and organizational use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies or the impact of AI on organizations with a record of research and publications. The applicant will also have expertise in quantitative methods and demonstrate prior experience using such methods as big data analytics, machine learning, text analysis, agent-based modeling, advanced social network analysis, and/or experimental design. We are interested in applicants who have evidence of collaboration in funded research.

    Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Communication or a related field by the start of the appointment. Salary will be commensurate withthe candidate's qualifications and experience.

    Purdue is a research-intensive, PhD granting institution and one of the nation's leading public land-grant universities, with an enrollment of over 48,000. For the third consecutive year, the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University is embarking on multiple hires with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) to begin in Fall 2024. Representing a variety of disciplines in the College, this cohort of scholars will expand our capacity to explore the implications of developing AI across our academic domains and advance and contribute to research and educational initiatives surrounding AI in new and important ways. These positions will also include teaching in our innovative, nationally-recognized Cornerstone Integrated Liberal Arts Program that educates students across the university.

    Faculty members in the Brian Lamb School of Communication are actively involved with several interdisciplinary programs and centers on campus, including the Center for C-SPAN Scholarship & Engagement, the AMAP cluster, the Institute for Physical AI, Integrated Data Science Initiative, and the many Research Centers in the Discovery Park District such as the Purdue Policy Research Institute and the Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security.
