Qin Weng, Jie Ren, and I are organizing a mini-track titled "The Bright and Dark Side of Social Media in Marginalized Contexts" for HICSS 2025. We hope to attract a variety of papers to have a stimulating academic conversation around the positive and negative aspects of social media for marginalized groups at HICSS. We encourage all types of papers (conceptual, theoretical, position, or empirical) with any social media platform. We are open to research at all stages of development.
For additional details, please see the following call for papers (https://hicss.hawaii.edu/tracks-58/information-technology-social-justice-and-marginalized-contexts/#bright-and-dark-side-of-social-media-in-the-marginalized-contexts-minitrack) or email Qin (Qin_Weng@baylor.edu), Jie (jren11@fordham.edu), or me (tmattson@richmond.edu). The submission deadline is June 15, 2024 at 11:59 pm HST. Submission instructions for scholars may be found at hicss.hawaii.edu/authors.
The conference will take place from January 7-10, 2025 at Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Big island.
